LIMBC Can Help Boost Malaysia Chances To Host World Series
The success of the second Langkawi International Mountain Bike Challenge (LIMBC) can help boost Malaysia’s chances to host the World Series in 2013.
Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said the LIMBC 2011 had received rave reviews from the sports fraternity, some of them hailed it as the best mountain bike race.
“This will help us become a host of international championships,” he said at a dinner in honour of LIMBC 2011 employees here last night.
Mahathir, who is also the honorary patron of LIMBC 2011, said the LIMBC could become as prestigious as the Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) which began as a small race on the island before receiving an international acclaim.
“The LTdL was intended to be held only in Langkawi. However, the organiser decided to make it bigger.
“We have the ability to turn it into a bigger event,” he said, adding that he hoped the LTdL would include Langkawi as the race started on the island. – BERNAMA
