Holiday with a Difference

Superb Horseback Riding in Langkawi, Malaysia
We are an equestrian centre set on the gorgeous, sun-kissed island of Langkawi, on the west coast of Malaysia.

Our excellent stables are home to superb riding horses suited for a range of riding abilities and all ages. If you’re inexperienced or new to horses, we’ll help you enjoy your horseback experience. If you’re an expert, we have some breathtaking and challenging riding trails for you too.

Our Island Horses equestrian centre sits on the western side of Langkawi island, close to the coast near Telaga Harbour, a destination and home for many yachts and megayachts.

Our riding centre and stables are located beside the foothill of the amazing 550 million year old Mat Chinchang sandstone mountain range and we are surrounded by one of the world’s oldest tropical rainforests.

In other words, it’s a paradise for riding horses.

And that’s not all. We’re just a stone’s throw away from the refreshing cascades of mountain water that flow into seven rocky natural pools called Telaga Tujuh (Seven Wells Waterfall). And not far away are the white, sandy beaches of Pantai Kok (Kok Beach). Plus, the Langkawi International Airport is just 10 minutes’ drive away.

Island Horses is the only riding centre in Malaysia which offers mountain trail horse riding on our all-exclusive Perdana Trail, a 75-kilometre tropical jungle trail which has been given the thumbs-up by our ex-Prime Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, an ardent horseman.

Langkawi Regatta Spurs Development Of Maritime Industry

Oct 10th, 2009 • Category: News

he Royal Langkawi International Regatta (RLIR) has spurred development of the maritime industry in the island resort, Royal Langkawi Yacht Club (RLYC) senior manager Abdul Rahman Mahani said.

He said the regatta which gathers 30-40 yachts from all over the world had created many business opportunities to Malaysian maritime industry players.

“Most yacht owners participating in RLIR took the oportunity to repair their yachts in Langkawi as it has several repair centres which offer a whole range of services.

“The low fees charged by RLYC also encouraged the foreigners to spend more time in Langkawi. Our fees are lower than those in Singapore, Philippines, Thailand and Hong Kong,” he told Bernama here on Sunday.

Abdul Rahman said since its inception in 2003, RLIR had strong support from government agencies and the private sector but added at least RM 1.5 million was needed to organise a bigger regatta.

“We hope more Malaysian corporations will become official sponsors as they can become icons of a world-class regatta.

“Malaysia can take the cue from the United States where a watch company has become the official sponsor of an international regatta,” he said.

The annual RLIR will be held from Jan 8-15 next year.

Sep 8th, 2009 • Category: News

LANGKAWI, Sept 7 (Bernama) — The Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) has intensified its tourism promotion by picking London as its new target after the success of its missions to India, the former Soviet republics, Dubai, Indonesia and Singapore.

Lada general manager Azman Umar said the agency would participate in the Malaysian Tourism Promotion Board’s mission to London from Nov 9 to 12.

He said statistics from the Lada tourism unit showed that there were 100,831 tourists from the United Kingdom visiting Langkawi last year while the figure for the first seven months of this year was 53,123 tourists.

“London was chosen based on the encouraging market there besides Singapore, Thailand and Australia,” Azman told Bernama, here on Monday.

He said that a second promotion to Singapore would be held from Nov 13 to 15. The first mission to that republic was made in May.

Lada would take part in the International Travel Expo in Vietnam from Oct 1 to 3 to woo tourists from the Asean member nations to visit Langkawi, he said.

On the promotions to the former Soviet Union republics namely Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania in June, he said they had received good response.

Following the promotions, 10 representatives from travel agencies and the media from the countries concerned would visit Lanagkawi for five days from Sept 9 to have a better knowledge of the resort island.

Beach Garden Resort

Mar 29th, 2009 • Category: Hotel & Resort

Entering the Beach Garden Resort Langkawi past the stone guards gives you immediately the feeling to be cut off completely from the outside world. A short jungle path heading west leads through a lush green jungle like garden, past a small pond down to the beach.

At the end of the path when you step out of the shadow of the canopy the bright sunshine reflects on a spot of white, fine sand. It is the open air part of the Beach Garden Resort restaurant, the beer garden. Protected by a sun sail this is an ideal place to enjoy a cool beer from the keg and enjoy the sunset at the same time.

Nothing blocks your sight while your eyes are scanning across the beach and the braking sea at the shore. You ar absolutely right, this is not Manhattan, Houston or London.

“This is Paradise” you will think when this view is pleasing your eyes the first time. But wait, the day is still young.
